Welcome to the Lincoln Park Historical Society
“This is a perfect gem of a museum, what every local community should strive for.”
— Professor Tom Jones
We welcome tour groups, school classes, class reunions, out of town visitors, and drop-ins. We can offer special arrangements, if needed. There is no admission charge to the museum.
The Lincoln Park Historical Society has supported the Historical Museum in its renovation from a former Depression-era Post Office building to its present form. Originally constructed in 1938–1939, the building served the Lincoln Park community as post office until 1991 when the post office moved to its new home on Fort Street. Soon after, the Society sought to acquire the building for the museum’s new home. Fifty-thousand feet of wire were used in re-wiring the structure, ceilings were lowered and plastered, windows were replaced, new doors were installed, plaster and paint were updated.
The Goodell Bell Tower was erected in 1999 and dedicated that year by members of the Goodell Family. Additionally, in 2002, the Memorial Clock brought added interest. The Lincoln Park Heritage Plaza was installed on the museum grounds in 2015 to celebrate the city’s 90th anniversary that year.
Our Society has meetings at 7:00 PM the first Wednesday of October, November, December (Open House), February, March and April. In May, we hold our Annual Dinner. Everyone is welcome – new members, too!
